Zambia Receives Life-Saving Cholera Vaccine Donation from China

Government of Zambia has received a donation of 86,670 oral cholera vaccine capsules from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, marking a significant boost in the country's fight against cholera.
Manufactured by Shanghai United Cell Biotechnology Co., Ltd (SUCB), the vaccines arrived in Lusaka on May 2, 2025, and are currently being stored at a designated cold chain facility under the Ministry of Health.
This generous donation underscores the growing cooperation between Zambia and China in the field of public health.
The vaccines are expected to play a critical role in strengthening Zambia’s cholera prevention and control efforts, particularly during the high-risk season.
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with key stakeholders, is actively coordinating the transportation and distribution of the vaccines to the most affected and vulnerable communities.
The Zambian government has expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese government for its continued support and solidarity. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening public health systems and safeguarding the well-being of citizens.
Further details on the vaccination campaign rollout will be announced by the Ministry of Health in due course. The donation is expected to make a meaningful impact in reducing cholera cases and promoting overall public health.
