ZAMBIA PARTICIPATES IN 76TH WHO REGIONAL COMMITTEE FOR AFRICA

A Zambian delegation led by Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Donor Coordination, Dr George Sinyangwe, is participating in the 76th Session of the World Health Organization Regional Committee for Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The meeting has brought together Health Ministers and senior officials from 47 African Member States to discuss regional health policies and strategies, including Universal Health Coverage, emergency preparedness, strategic health priorities and regulation of medical products.

A key focus of the meeting is health sovereignty, with discussions centred on strengthening Africa’s capacity to finance its health priorities, expand local manufacturing and reduce dependence on external support.

As the immediate past host of the 75th Regional Committee meeting in Lusaka, Zambia is continuing to contribute to discussions aimed at building stronger and more resilient health systems across Africa.
