ZAMBIA AND GHANA SIGN HISTORIC VISA-FREE TRAVEL DEAL.

The Governments of Zambia and Ghana have signed a historic visa-free travel agreement, allowing citizens of both countries to travel between the two nations without visas. The landmark decision represents a significant milestone in bilateral relations and Africa’s integration agenda.

The agreement was formalized during the official State Visit of Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama to Zambia, with both heads of state witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding. Officials say the arrangement will strengthen people-to-people interactions, boost tourism, trade, investment, and promote cultural exchange.

For the first time in Ghana-Zambia history, tourists, business communities, students, professionals, and cultural practitioners will enjoy seamless movement between the two countries. Authorities expect the initiative to stimulate tourism growth, attract investors, and deepen social and economic ties.

The Ministry of Tourism described the visa-free deal as a demonstration of Zambia’s commitment to open skies, open borders, and inclusive development. The move aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which envisions a connected, prosperous, and integrated Africa.

The Ministry of Tourism has urged other African nations to follow suit, emphasizing that visa-free travel frameworks promote continental unity, shared prosperity, and sustainable development while removing barriers that have long hindered intra-African movement and economic collaboration.
