THE STORY OF DEATH

Let me tell you a story I heard many-many years ago during my childhood from my grandfather. He used to tell me stories every day before I slept ,and he used to ask me some questions to train my perception power .But of all the stories he told me, this one was the most special one. So much that as I tell it to you, his image comes to my mind. And it was the last story he told me before he died the next morning.
There was a young man named David, who was studying philosophy at Stanford University.
Upon graduating he went round to his friends homes, to boast about his education achievement and the type of job he would have. A few weeks later, David was called for interviews and was given the job he wanted, but on that very day, Death approached him.
Death shouted in a horrifying voice, “David! David! David!”
David turned to see who called him, with a startled look on his face. Behind him, stood a man clad in a dark long leather jacket and a big dark hat.
With a shaky voice, David asked, “Wh-wh-who are you?”
“I am Death,” the man answered majestically.
David was terrified.
“Death? What is it that you want from me?”
“The lord has prepared a place for you in heaven,” Death said.
“Go back and tell the lord that I am too young to die! And besides, there are many goals that I am yet to achieve on earth.”
Death looked at David for a while, and with a smile he said, ’’Even if you argue with me, I have to go with you. Your name is at the top of my list.” He pulled out a piece of paper from underneath his thick jacket and handed it to him.
“Is that so?” David was now calming down.
He grabbed the list and saw his name at the top.
“Could you at least allow me to have my last meal?”
“You’re wasting my time!” Death was getting frustrated. “I have other business to take care of!”
“Look, you’re taking away my life. Don’t take my food as well.”
With a sigh, death said, “Okay! Make it quick.”
“Thank you, Mr. Death.”
David wasn’t ready to die just yet. He had other plans in mind.
He prepared a meal for two, but in Death’s portion he added a crushed sleeping pill. Clueless about what David had done, Death gladly ate his meal to the finish. In no time, he was snoring on David’s couch.
David quickly took out the list and changed the order of names, putting his at the bottom.
“I can’t go out now.” He was feeling good about himself.
With a lot of confidence, he woke Death up.
“You’ve got work to do,” David said with an attitude.
Death woke up, and with a long yawn, he stretched himself. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the list.
“Mr. David,” he said with a friendly tone, “You are the first one to be this kind to me.”
David nodded, smiling at his brilliant scheme.
“And because of your hospitality, am going to do you a favor.”
David had a confused look on his face, “What favor?”
“I’ll spare you and start from the bottom of my list.”
And that’s how David died.
The only thing that can stop you from achieving your goals and live your dreams is death. Only a dead person is unable to make a change in life. For as long as you’re alive and still breathing, you can make a change. Life is a gift from God, so make sure what you do with it is a gift to him.
