TEACHERS GIVE DEBS THREE MONTHS ULTIMATUM TO IMPROVE PEMIC SYSTEM.

Mwansabombwe District Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT) Secretary Sandala Champo has given the District Education Board Secretary Mary Kanyimbo three months ultimatum to improve PEMIC system.
Mr. champo said some teachers in Mwansabombwe District are acting on different positions without getting the responsibility allowance due to them with some acting for more than six months without being recommended for consideration.
He said this yesterday October 5, 2015 when Teachers in Mwansabombwe District of Luapula Province joined the rest of the world to commemorate world teacher’s day under the theme EMPOWERING TEACHERS BUILDING SUSTAINABLE SOCIETIES.
He added that some schools in the district operate without planned charts for teachers to go on vacation leave, and that the union is aware of capacity building but most teachers who have upgraded have not been reassessed and urged DEBS to process the papers.
He furthermore highlighted the major challenge in the implementation of the curriculum due to lack of funds in schools to buy required materials and equipment to use.
He said that practical subjects such as ICT and Integrated Science are being affected by the global power shortage and appealed to the DEBS to lobby community development fund to buy the needed materials for the betterment of the learners in rural areas.
He said lack of adequate stuffing in the district is also another challenge that is posing a major drawback in achieving quality education.
He called on government to look into the plight of teachers in Mwansabombwe and send more teachers to balance the unbearable teacher to pupil ratio.
