tailoring and designer appeal

Consider financing tailoring designer
Kasempa November 2- the fashion industry in kasempa district has suffered financial setbacks due to a lack of attention and support by government.
Tafibwalubilo tailoring and designing proprietor Queen Mulaya said the industry has potential to expand and create employment but lacks support from government.
Mulaya who earns an income from designing and sawing various types of clothing says it has been a challenge to finance the business because banks require collateral which makes it difficult for small entrepreneurs to borrow.
She said the fashion industry has a huge potential of creating employment for the youths if only government pays attention to the sector.
Ms Mulaya who has had the passion of tailoring and designing from childhood has managed to educate her five children and also imparted the skills to some of her children.
She further appealed to government to consider opening up skills centers especial in rural areas where youths who fail to attain university can acquire such training.
She said kasempa district has no center for such training and youths who intend to pursue such skills have to move out of the province in search of skills development.
“I had the passion to design and tailor clothes at a tender age but it was a challenge to learn professionally within the district as there was no school for such and hence in 2008 I had to go to luashya where i acquired my skills,” she disclosed.
