If you see how axes thrive on our forests day in day out. You will realize how desperately we need to work together to stop excessive deforestation. Deforestation affects this nation in a great way which unfortunately many are ignorant about. This brings me to this word climate change. What do you think is the cause of this rise in temperature? What do you think is the cause of these droughts and erratic rains? It is climate change and global warming, but why is climate changing? You see man’s activities on the environment have been so destructive, unfair and irrational.
In the quest to maximize his benefits, he has been cutting down forests, realizing poisonous emissions into the ozone, poaching wildlife, thereby disturbing the Eco-systems; he’s been poisoning the land. For man to survive favorable climate is indispensable. The more we degrade the environment, the more unfavorable climate becomes. And consequently the more difficult our lives became.
That is why the world has taken to the round table to discuss mitigation. They have proposed ways to reduce the impact and the worsening of climate change. They are even funds and pledges made towards this cause. But the practical implementation has been and is so poor and we are going down the same dreadful road. The road to climate disaster, were survival will became too hard. Agriculture will be crippled due to droughts; starvation of humans and animals will be widespread. The temperatures will be unbearable and there would be excessive flooding and dwindling of the water resource.
Let’s stop deforestation, instead let’s plant forests, protect and preserve the environment. That way we shall mitigate climate change.
