President Hichilema Challenges Kwame Nkrumah Graduates To Drive Innovation And Economic Growth

President Hakainde Hichilema has challenged graduates of Kwame Nkrumah University to embrace innovation, entrepreneurship, and resilience as powerful tools for driving Zambia’s socio-economic transformation.
The President’s speech was delivered on his behalf by the Minister of Education, Hon. Douglas Siakalima, during the university’s 11th Graduation Ceremony held in Kabwe.
In his address, the President acknowledged Kwame Nkrumah University’s historical significance and praised the institution for contributing to Zambia’s intellectual and educational growth, particularly through the training of teachers. He commended the theme of the graduation—“Unlocking Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship through Education, Resilience and Hard Work”—as timely and aligned with the 8th National Development Plan.
Over 1,500 graduates were conferred degrees across various disciplines. The President lauded the university’s expansion, including the opening of a new School of Health Sciences and the development of the South-East Campus.
While noting the challenges facing the university, he encouraged management to consider Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and collaborate with digital and infrastructure stakeholders such as Smart Zambia and ZICTA to enhance learning environments.
He further urged the graduates to go beyond seeking jobs and instead become creators of employment, innovators, and drivers of national progress.
"Your resilience and hard work will be your greatest assets. Zambia is counting on you," the President stated in the message.
The ceremony was attended by university officials, education stakeholders, parents, and dignitaries from across the country.
