Kitwe City Council Warns Against Unauthorized Charges And Corruption

Kitwe City Council has issued a strong warning against unauthorized charges by its officers and reaffirmed its commitment to fighting corruption. In a public notice dated April 2, 2025, Town Clerk Patrick Kambita stated that council officers are not permitted to charge clients for inspections or facilitating any paid for services.
The notice further clarified that penalties should not be collected in the field. Instead, all penalty charge letters or forms must be officially signed and stamped by the relevant department heads.
Emphasizing the city’s zero tolerance policy on corruption, the council reminded the public that offering or receiving bribes is a criminal offense. Any suspected cases of corruption should be reported to the Anti-Corruption Commission via the toll free line 5980, the nearest police station, or the Town Clerk’s office.
Additionally, the council urged residents to report complaints regarding delayed or poor service delivery to the appropriate department heads or the Town Clerk's office.
This move is part of the local authority’s efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in service delivery while protecting residents from exploitation.
