Information and Media Minister Launches Power Presence Magazine and Highlights Media’s Role in National Development

Minister of Information and Media and Chief Government Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa, MP, officiated at the launch of “Power Presence Magazine”, a new publication by Chara Media, during a ceremony held in Lusaka last evening.

In his remarks, Mr. Mweetwa reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to fostering a dynamic and responsible media sector, describing it as essential to Zambia’s development.

He underscored the value of media platforms like Power Presence Magazine in empowering youth and promoting inclusive economic growth.

The Minister praised Chara Media for contributing to a growing and diverse media landscape, adding that such efforts support the national agenda by providing platforms that reflect the country's progress and aspirations.

Mr. Mweetwa also stressed the importance of storytelling in shaping public perception and national identity.

He said the Government remains committed to backing media initiatives that complement national policies especially those addressing youth unemployment and fostering entrepreneurship.

Mr. Mweetwa further encouraged collaboration between media stakeholders, civil society, and the private sector to support the industry’s growth.

He emphasized that a strong media contributes not only to information dissemination but also to active civic engagement and democratic governance.

Addressing young people, Mr. Mweetwa urged them to take initiative and align their efforts with the country's development goals, noting that youth involvement is key to Zambia’s long-term progress.

The introduction of “Power Presence Magazine” represents a notable development in the country's publishing sector, bringing additional perspectives and voices to Zambia’s media space.
