Egyptian Tv Presenter Sarah Khalifa Sentenced To Death In Drug Case.

Egyptian television presenter Sarah Khalifa has been sentenced to death by a Cairo Criminal Court in a major drug case. Khalifa was arrested in Cairo in April 2025 after investigators began looking into an alleged drug operation involving the importation and distribution of drugs.

Prosecutors said more than 750 kilograms of drugs and related materials were seized. Khalifa denied the accusations and told the judge that she had never seen any drugs until she was photographed with them inside the anti-narcotics authority's offices.

During the sentencing, Khalifa reportedly shouted, “I'm innocent,” according to ABC News Australia. The court's ruling came after consultation with Egypt's Grand Mufti. Nine other defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment, while seven were acquitted, and Khalifa can still appeal the sentence.
