Early grave by enjoying pork

A doctor has observed that pork should not be eaten because many of the bacteria found in it are resistant to multiple antibioticts making treatment to humans who catch the diseases problematic and deadly.

A Dr Mercola says on a blog articles.mercola.com that there was enough scientific evidence to justify prohibitions to eat pork in most cultures.

The blog says the 200 samples of pork tested in the US were contaminated with the dangerous bacteria Yersina enterocolitica ,which causes fever, and gastrointestinal illness with diarrhea, vomiting and stomach cramps.

“We found salmonella, staphylococcus aureus, or listeria monocytogens, more common causes of food borne illnesses, in 3 to 7percent of samples. And 11 percent harboured enerococcus, which can indicate faecal contamination and can cause problems such as urinary tract infections,” the blog quotes a report.

The blog says the pork industry has also been plagued by horrendous infections and diseases including Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome(PRRS), Nippa virus, Porcine Endogenous Retrovirus(PERV) and Mangle virus.

“The PRRS virus primarily attacks the immune system ,leaving its body open to a host of infections, particularly in the lungs,” the blog says.

The blog says the Nipah Virus has caused disease in animals and humans through contact, causing encephalitis (acute inflammation of your brain) in people.

The blog also says according to the journal Lancet, PERV can spread to humans receiving pig organ transplants.

“…researchers have found out that pig heart, spleen, and kidney cells release various strains of the virus,” the blog explains.

The blog also says Menangle Virus, which was discovered in 1998, was able to jump to humans.
