CHIEF MUKUNI CALLS FOR SERIOUS COMMITMENT TOWARDS FIREFIGHTING

CHIEF Mukuni of Toka Leya speaking people of Kazungula says firefighting and rescue operation training should be rolled out to communities in an effort to save lives.
Chief Mukuni says many lives are lost on water and hence the need to engage communities, including those operating boats on the river frontage so that they have a member of staff who is well equipped in rescue operations.
He said this during the opening of the training of 25 Brigades from the National Fire School in Natural, Swimming, Boat handling and rescue operations.
Meanwhile, Chief Mukuni is this week expected to launch his long awaited boat to be used on the Zambezi River for cruises for both local and foreign tourists. 
It has a unique feature of grass thatched roof which gives it an environmentally friendly touch.
The boat has the sitting capacity of between 70 and 90, and is expected to add flavour and choice to the already existing, African Queen, African Princess, Lady Livingstone, Makumbi Boat and Taonga Boat Safari.
The boat to be called the "Lion King of the Victoria Falls" is an additional activity under the Mukuni Big Five which currently has a variety of wild animals ranging from elephant to lions.
Earlier, Livingstone acting City Council Town Clerk Levis Mumba, in a speech read for him by Livingstone City Council Public Relations Manager Emmanuel Sikanyika says the training of 25 officers will add value to the preparedness of the country against any disaster.
Mr. Mumba says the training and knowledge gained will help save the country on the loss of lives and property experienced a daily basis.And National Fire Training School Commandant Yona Mwale says no investor will risk to invest in a country that is fire prone and loose property
Mr. Mutale noted that the GDP of a country can only be enhanced if there is no fire occurring or minimised incidents.
