Cavendish University Zambia Student Critically Injured in Hit and Run Accident, Appeals for Public Support

A fourth-year student at Cavendish University Zambia is battling for his life after sustaining critical injuries in a hit and run accident just two days before sitting for his final examinations.

The student, whose name is being withheld for privacy, is currently admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka with multiple severe injuries, including broken legs and deep lacerations around the lower back and pelvic area. Due to the extent of the injuries, he is unable to sit upright and has been fitted with an ostomy bag to aid waste discharge.

According to Benecho T. Nyirenda, President of the Cavendish University Zambia Students Union, the student is in urgent need of financial support for medication, hygiene supplies, and daily cleaning procedures, which must be done up to three times a day to prevent infections.

“This is one of our own, and he was just about to finish his studies. It’s heartbreaking. We are appealing to the public, alumni, well-wishers, and the wider student community to help in any way possible,” said Nyirenda.

Those willing to offer assistance can send contributions via mobile money to 0971706279. Nyirenda has also encouraged well-wishers to send messages of support and prayers or help by sharing the appeal to reach a wider audience.
