JETS Fair Closes at Isoka Boys with a Strong Call for Innovation and stem Growth.
ISOKA,MUCHINGA PROVINCE -The Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientists (JETS) Regional Fair officially came to a close at Isoka Boys Secondary School in Muchinga Province after three days of exciting exhibitions and intense scientific engagement. The fair attracted pupils from various schools who showcased projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics demonstrating the incredible potential of Zambia’s youth.
In his keynote speech during the closing ceremony, Isoka District Commissioner, Mr. Jairo Simbeye applauded the role of the JETS program in promoting STEM education across the country. He emphasized that JETS is not only shaping the future of Zambia but is also providing sustainable and localized solutions to challenges faced within communities.
Mr. Simbeye encouraged the learners to remain creative, innovative, and hardworking, noting that the field of science and technology holds vast opportunities for those who persevere. He congratulated the pupils who emerged first, second, and third in the competitions, urging them to continue perfecting their projects through research. He also encouraged those who did not perform as well to remain determined, improve their work, and not give up.
The District Commissioner expressed gratitude to the Zambia Research and Development Center (ZRDC) and the Information and Communications University (ICU) for their continued investment in STEM education. He noted that such partnerships have ignited the imagination of young minds across the province. He further stated that the province is looking forward to building stronger collaborations with these institutions, especially in support of future district-level fairs.
Meanwhile, the Director of Research and Development at ZRDC, Dr. Chisala Bwalya congratulated all the participants and said the institution salutes their brilliance and dedication. He highlighted that ZRDC’s collaboration with the National Science Center through the JETS Regional Fair is a testament to their shared belief that innovation is the cornerstone of sustainable development.
Dr. Bwalya reiterated that Zambia’s youth are its greatest untapped resource, and their creativity today will define the nation’s competitiveness in the future.
As part of its support for emerging innovators, ZRDC is awarding top-performing learners in the senior category across all provincial fairs with a K1,000 cash prize, a 100% scholarship to study at the Information and Communications University, and induction into the ZRDC Research Community for continuous mentorship and growth.
