ECZ Director Michael Chilala summoned
MINISTER of General Education David Mabumba has summoned Examinations Council of Zambia Director Michael Chilala and his management team over the confirmed leaked grade 9 mathematics paper 2 examinations that happened on Monday 22nd October, 2018.
The education minister explained to media in Lusaka during the emergence meeting that the Examination Council of Zambia ECZ and the Ministry of General Education received notifications on the evening of 22nd October 2018 that the 2018 grade 9 mathematics paper 2 examinations had been leaked and posted on a named social media.
This prompted the ECZ to immediately report the matter to the office of the president permanent secretary, administration in the office of the general education and other stakeholders.
Mabumba also announced in the same meeting the suspension of all the examinations for grade 7, 9 and 12 until further notice.
“I regret to announce to the whole nation that the ministry of general education has decided to postpone all grade 7, 9 and 12 examination until further notice due to examination malpractices following the leaking of grade 9 mathematics paper 2 examinations on social media page,” the minister said.
Meanwhile the minister has since advised the Examination Council management and the ministry of general education to work with government wings to take remedial measure to mitigate the situation and thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the perpetuators to book.
