RODNEY SIKUMBA WINS GLOBAL CONSERVATION AWARD

Zambia’s Minister of Tourism, Rodney Sikumba, has won the 2026 Legislator of the Year Award from Safari Club International (SCI) in recognition of his leadership in wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism.

The award was presented at the SCI Convention held at the Music City Center in Nashville, United States of America.

SCI presents the Legislator of the Year Award annually to a global leader who demonstrates commitment to science-based conservation, progressive policy development and the sustainable use of wildlife resources.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Mr. Sikumba said the award reflects Zambia’s efforts in protecting its natural heritage.

“This award affirms our unwavering commitment to protecting Zambia’s rich wildlife heritage and promoting responsible conservation practices,” he said.

He added that Government will continue strengthening conservation systems and promoting tourism as a key driver of economic growth.

“We remain dedicated to safeguarding wildlife resources and positioning tourism as a cornerstone of Zambia’s economic transformation,” Mr Sikumba said.
