One Year Old Boy Attacked By Aggressive Rooster in Kanyama

A disturbing incident occurred on May 25, 2025, around 10:30 hours in Kanono area of Kanyama Compound, Lusaka, where a one-year-and-eight-month-old boy sustained injuries after being attacked by a rooster.
According to reports, the child was playing outside his house with his elder sibling when the rooster, owned by their 43-year-old landlord, suddenly attacked him, inflicting a deep cut on his head. It's alleged that the rooster has a history of aggressive behavior and has previously attacked other children in the area.
The child's father, a 42-year-old resident of the same locality, reported the incident to Kanyama Police Station. A medical report form was issued, and the child received treatment at the hospital before being discharged.
The Zambia Police Service has taken action, engaging relevant stakeholders, including the Veterinary Department for quarantine and forensic investigations and Lusaka City Council for enforcement actions against the bird's owner, citing potential nuisances under Section 67 of the Public Health Act and Statutory Instrument No. 44 of 2007
