MONICA ZULU TO REPRESENT ZAMBIA AT MISS INTERCONTINENTAL

First Princess Monica Zulu has been appointed Miss Intercontinental Zambia and will represent the country at the international Miss Intercontinental pageant in Egypt following the withdrawal of crowned winner Lusa Kyembe due to school-related commitments.

Kyembe, who was crowned Miss Intercontinental Zambia on 26th September 2026, has stepped down from the responsibility of representing the country at the international competition, according to an official announcement released by the pageant organisation.

The announcement confirmed that Monica, who previously held the First Princess position, will now take over the title and assume the responsibilities of representing Zambia at the international pageant.

The organisation explained that Kyembe's decision was influenced by her academic commitments, adding that it understands the importance of education and supports her decision to prioritise her studies.

While expressing regret over her withdrawal from the international representation, the organisation made it clear that Kyembe will continue to be part of the Miss Intercontinental journey.

"We are saddened that she will not be taking up the international representation at this time, but we fully appreciate the importance of her education and wish her every success in her academic journey," the organisation stated.

It further disclosed that Kyembe would remain connected to the pageant and continue undergoing training under the Miss Intercontinental programme.

"Lusa will, however, remain connected to the Miss Intercontinental journey and will continue to undergo training under the Miss Intercontinental pageant programme," the announcement added.

Meanwhile, Monica Zulu is expected to take on the responsibility of representing Zambia at the competition in Egypt. Her appointment follows her position as First Princess in the national pageant, which now places her in line to represent the country internationally.

The organisation congratulated Monica on the opportunity and expressed its commitment to supporting her as she prepares for the international competition.

"We congratulate Monica on this important opportunity and look forward to supporting her as she prepares for the international competition," the statement read.

The organisation also reaffirmed its commitment to developing and empowering its titleholders, emphasising the importance of preparing them to become confident representatives of beauty, purpose, culture and excellence.

It described the change in representation as a new chapter for the titleholders and the country, while encouraging members of the public to support Monica as she prepares to carry the Zambian flag onto the international stage.

The announcement concluded with a message of encouragement for the new representative, expressing optimism about Zambia's participation in the competition with the words: "Zambia to the world. Egypt, here we come!"

Monica's appointment now places her at the forefront of Zambia's preparations for the upcoming Miss Intercontinental pageant, while Kyembe continues her involvement in the programme alongside her academic commitments.
