Kangwa to sit out Zambia’s next two AFCON qualifiers

Chipolopolo midfielder Klings Kangwa will be unavailable for Zambia’s next two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Algeria and Togo due to suspension.

Kangwa is serving a four-match ban imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following an incident involving match officials during Zambia’s final group-stage match against Morocco at the 2025 AFCON.

The Panathinaikos midfielder was sent off in stoppage time after being substituted for Given Kalusa in the 79th minute. He has already served part of his suspension but must sit out Zambia’s upcoming qualifiers against Algeria and Togo.

Zambia will travel to face Algeria on 25 September before hosting Togo on 29 September at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. Kangwa will have one game remaining on his suspension after the two fixtures before he becomes eligible to return to national team duty.
