Health Ministry to Assess Qualifications of all Headquarters Staff
The Ministry of Health is set to scrutinise the academic and professional qualifications of all staff at its Lusaka headquarters, with those who fail to meet the required standards facing reassignment. Health Minister Professor Roma Chilengi said the exercise would cover all 403 positions in the approved headquarters establishment.
“Every position in the approved structure will be evaluated against established professional benchmarks and job descriptions,” Prof Chilengi said in a ministerial statement issued yesterday. He added that officers without the required qualifications would be reassigned to operational stations matching their verified credentials.
The Ministry has also directed 123 officers working at headquarters under temporary administrative arrangements to return to their substantive stations as they fall outside the approved 2021 establishment. Their return is expected to strengthen staffing at frontline health facilities and decentralised administrative centres across the country.
