Harry Kane Wins 2026 Ballon d’Or
England captain Harry Kane has won the 2026 men’s Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Englishman to receive the prestigious football award since Michael Owen in 2001.
The Bayern Munich striker was honoured at a ceremony in London on Monday, October 26, after an outstanding season in which he scored 73 goals across club and international competitions.
Kane scored 61 goals in 51 appearances for Bayern Munich, helping the German club win the Bundesliga and German Cup.
He also scored six goals for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the team finished fourth.
“I am almost speechless. Being here in London has made it extra special,” Kane said while accepting the award.
He thanked his teammates, coaches, family and supporters, adding that he would not have achieved the milestone without their support.
Spain’s Alexia Putellas won the women’s Ballon d’Or after helping Barcelona win four major trophies during the 2025-26 season, including the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Vicky Lopez won the men’s and women’s young player awards, respectively, while Spain’s Unai Simon and Cata Coll received the best goalkeeper awards.
Bayern Munich’s Kane also won the men’s Gerd Müller Trophy for his goal-scoring achievements, while Mexico’s Charlyn Corral received the women’s award in the same category.
