FAZ MOURNS DEATH OF CHOMA WARRIORS DEFENDER CHOOLWE MULEYA.
Muleya, 24, had been in Solwezi since July 23, 2026, for trials with Doves Queens after being loaned to Macha Queens.
Doves Queens General Secretary Gabriel Shipili said Muleya fell ill in the morning and was rushed to Solwezi Urban Clinic, where she was pronounced dead around 07:00.
“Choolwe, a Macha Queens defender, has been attending trials at our club since July 23, 2026. She even trained yesterday around 16:00 and was in good health. But we were informed this morning that she woke up not feeling well,” Shipili said.
Meanwhile General Secretary Charles Chakatazya described Muleya’s death as a painful loss to the football family, saying the player died at a time when she was pursuing an opportunity to further her career.
“The football family is in mourning following the tragic loss of a young and talented player who passed away while pursuing her dream of joining another club. This is a sad moment for all of us,” Chakatazya said.
Chakatazya conveyed condolences to Muleya’s family on behalf of FAZ President Keith Mweemba and the executive committee.
He said FAZ was standing with the bereaved family, Macha Queens and Doves Queens during the period of mourning.
“We have lost a promising young player whose future in the game was still ahead of her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, teammates and everyone affected by this sad loss,” Chakatazya said.
