4,375 BOXES OF MILK BOOST CHINSALI SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMME.

Chinsali District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Kalale Katale said each box contained 24 packets of milk and that distribution to the benefiting schools was already underway.

Mr Katale said the milk was specifically meant for children aged between three and six years in schools offering ECE.

He said the School Feeding Programme was aimed at ensuring that learners continued receiving meals while at school, adding that the initiative had contributed to an improved learning environment since its introduction.

“The programme has continued to contribute to improved pupil retention and academic performance among learners,” Mr Katale said.

He also encouraged schools to revamp their production units so that they could produce food and supplement Government’s efforts under the School Feeding Programme.

Meanwhile, a parent from Kabuta area in Chinsali District, Alice Nankololwe, thanked Government for introducing the programme, saying it had provided relief to vulnerable households in the community.

Ms Nankololwe said the programme ensured that children were able to get at least a meal while at school, particularly those who reported for lessons on an empty stomach.

“We are grateful for this programme, especially when children report for lessons on an empty stomach, we are assured of them eating something,” she said.
